Track 7 New HelvLet’s celebrate the first full week of May is Bike Month with a friendly a ride to Track 7 Brewing and New Helvetia Brewing.

WHAT: We’re riding from Fremont Park in Midtown to Track 7 Brewing, just south of Curtis Park, then back up to New Helvetia Brewing in Land Park. There’s often a food truck at both places, so you won’t go hungry. Those of us who want to can ride back to Midtown together. We’ll be on our way before it gets dark.

WHERE: Let’s meet at the fountain in Fremont Park, opposite HOT ITALIAN at 16th and Q streets. We’ll ride east on Q St., south on 24th Street into Curtis Park and through the new Curtis Park Village development and under Sutterville Road to Track 7. From there, we’ll head back up into Curtis Park, then west on 2nd and north on 18th to New Helvetia.

ABOUT THE RIDE: The route is 3 miles one way to Track 7, along somewhat busy Midtown streets with some bike lanes. We’ll ride across W, X and Broadway where evening commute traffic will be heavier.

The route from New Helvetia is 2 miles through quieter Curtis Park, and across 21st St and Freeport Blvd., about half of it on bike lanes.

This is a casual group ride at a friendly pace (9-12 MPH). We’ll have a leader and a sweeper, so nobody gets left behind.

Please be sure you and your bike are prepared for the distance and the route. By all means bring whatever safety gear helps you feel most comfortable. And in case you stay later, be sure to bring bike lights.

REGISTRATION FEE: The ride is free, but you’re on your own for beer and food. You’ll have the chance to make a small donation to SABA, to help us continue hosting these rides.
